Windows 7 - Wireless Checklist


Note: Disable all third party wireless utilities such as Intel Pro Wireless or Dell Wireless WLAN Utility. Disable any firewall to complete the ODU-WIRELESS configuration.



1. Right click the Network icon (icon is a computer with a globe or red "X") in the system tray.

Right click on the network icon.


2. Click on the option Open Network and Sharing Center.

Open Network and Sharing Center.


3. On the left hand side, select Manage wireless networks.

Click on Manage wireless networks on the left.


4. Find the Network named, ODU-WIRELESS, and left-click on it. Once selected, Click Remove

(circled in Red pictured below).

Select ODU-WIRELESS and the click Remove.


5. Once the network, ODU-WIRELESS, has been removed, close the Manage Wireless Networks window and return to

the desktop. Left-click on the Network icon in the system tray (pictured below).

Click on the network icon.


6. The Network, "ODU-WIRELESS" will have returned to the list of Networks. Left-click ODU-WIRELESS and check

Connect automatically and then click Connect (pictured below).

Click on ODU-WIRELESS.


7. The next window that will pop up will be the Network Authentication window asking for your ODU account

credentials. Enter your ODU username and password and then click, OK.

Enter your ODU username and password.


8. Click the Connect button when the "Windows Security Alert" window pops up and your ODU Wireless should be

configured and ready.

Click on connect on the Windows Security Alert.


9. Select Public Location to keep your all your shared documents and files secure (Circled in Red pictured below).

Select Public Location.
